CHAPTER HISTORY

In April 1904, the group was known as the Denver alumnae association. There were 24 members, the majority being from Phi chapter, but five other chapters were represented. In July 1906, the group decided "to be known henceforth as Phi Omega alumnae association out of compliment to the two chapters having the most representatives." A charter was granted formally establishing the Denver alumnae chapter on November 6, 1910.

The second alumnae group in Denver was known for its first eight years as the Denver Junior alumnae chapter. The first meeting of the group was held on January 28, 1970 with the first roster that year having 180 members listed. The group's purpose was to attract those alumnae who preferred evening meetings and to involve more recent graduates in their fraternity as alumnae. On October 13, 1978, the junior group became a separate chartered chapter with no age restriction but with the continuing appeal to those in the Denver area who preferred evening meetings. The name was changed to The Denver Evening alumnae chapter. The charter of the Denver Evening alumnae chapter was relinquished in 2000.
The third alumnae chapter was established April 26, 1971 as the Jefferson County Delta Gamma alumnae chapter. The name was changed to Denver West Delta Gamma alumnae chapter in 1979. The charter of the Denver West alumnae chapter was relinquished in 1986.

Currently, the Denver alumnae chapter has a mix of both daytime and evening activities to meet the scheduling needs of all our members. We are proud of our rich history and look forward to celebrating our Centennial in the years to come. For information about past chapter leaders, here is a list of Past Presidents for all three groups.

PROGRAMS

This year's programming chair planned a number of wonderful events!  They include Feng Shui, an Antique Roadshow, one of our own discussing her talents in Embroidery and Extreme Self Care.

One of the chapter's top goals is to meet the criteria for the H.K. Stuart award. Each month Denver DGs intend to have a DO GOOD event. For September and October, the chapter will contribute to the Komen Foundation. A non-perishable food drive to benefit Food Bank of the Rockies is planned for November and in December the chapter will participate in Operation Christmas Child. Future events that are being planned include, a blood drive for Bonfils and food preparation for the New Genesis Men's Shelter at Central Presbyterian Church.

PANHELLENIC

Denver Area Panhellenic has association of representatives from all 26 NPC sororities whose purpose is "to inform fraternity women of current trends and promote the fraternity system, while improving the Panhellenic image and stimulating a continuing interest in Panhellenic affairs."

Delta Gamma has "come into the chairs". Meredith Meyers, Beta Tau, is representing DG on the Executive Board this year as DAP Treasurer. She will be presiding as the DAP President in 2009-10.

The group meets on the first Monday of each month, except in September at the First Plymouth Congregational Church at 3501 South Colorado Boulevard at either Noon or 5:30 pm. Attendance is required. Delta Gamma sends a delegate and alternate each month. The philanthropies for the organization are New Garments Always, formerly Needlework Guild of America and school supply donations for a deserving school in the Denver Metro area. Delta Gamma supports this philanthropy with donations of money, garments and supplies. Another major project is providing scholarships to collegians. Delta Gamma supports this with donations both from the alumnae chapter and privately.

To obtain further information on Panhellenic activities and scholarships, go to the Denver Area Panhellenic Web site.
